This timeless mug features the iconic Saint Brigid’s cross, named for Brigid of Kildare, the only patroness saint of Ireland. These iconic crosses are traditionally woven from straw or rushes on Imbolc or Imbolg, also known as Saint Brigid’s Day. Imbolc is a traditional Gaelic festival on the 1st of February, marking the beginning of spring and in Christianity it is feast day of Saint Brigid. Hanging a Brigid’s cross from the rafters of one’s house was believed to bring the blessing and protection of the saint for the remainder of the year.
