Description
In India, flowers are an essential part of daily life, they are sacred symbols, most of them dedicated to Hindu religious ceremonies. They are used to make garlands to adorn the hair or for various social occasions, especially weddings.
Every day, tons of flowers are brought by small farmers to local markets, where they are sold for use in religious ceremonies and as ornaments.
There, the sambac jasmine buds are called “malli”. Since Tamil Nadu also means “the land of the Tamils”, the name “Malli Nadu” was chosen to literally evoke “the land of jasmine”.
